Listening
When we listen carefully, we show people that they matter to us.
Why it matters
Everyone wants to be heard and understood. A child who learns to listen finds it easier to understand instructions and to get along with friends. Listening is a skill: looking at the speaker, not interrupting and checking that we have understood them correctly.
