Week 35 · Emotions and self

Contentment

Being glad of what we have sets us free from endless comparing.

Why it matters

There will always be someone with a newer toy, a better phone or a 'prettier' life, and constant comparing steals our joy. Contentment doesn't mean giving up on dreams: it is the skill of seeing the good things we already have and being glad of them. A child who learns this is less easily caught by envy and more at peace with themselves.
