Mother tongue and culture
Our mother tongue is our root, and every new language is a new branch.
Why it matters
A mother tongue passes on the stories, proverbs and wisdom of past generations and connects a child with their ancestors. A child who loves their own language and culture feels confident and also respects other people's languages and cultures. Knowing several languages does not weaken these roots — it enriches them.
